"just enjoy the time you have with your family "

that's what a friend of mine said, as i talked to him.  if you dont know already, family is seriously important to me.  whether it's my family or a friend's family, if i hear something sad, i will seriously start bawling.  so i was talking to my friend, and found out his father had passed away recently.  of course he didnt come out and say it, because i was like "how are you?!?!" and he said "not so great" and i assumed it had to do with classes, and he said no. so i checked his profile and pieced the puzzle together.  for some reason, when i read his profile i just started crying.  i started to talk a little more with him about it, and just started bawling as if i knew his father, which i dont.  i have never met his father, but i was just crying.  although i dont know the situation any death of a loved one is painful.  i have survived my uncle's, my granfather's and a friend's death, and i seriously couldnt handle it at first, but i prayed and found peace and just accepted it.  also, just awhile ago, i was talking to a different friend, and my friend's grandfather was having some complications, and i just started crying.  i guess it makes me think of my own family,so i get all teary eyes.  i honestly dont know where i'm going with this, but yeah i just had to write something to get it off my mind because i should be finishing up studying for a midterm. i guess "just enjoy the time you have with your family".

p.s. my prayers to you and your family, "great wong"

- i miss you

hello again.

hello xanga viewers. it's been awhile, and maybe just too long. i guess i just never really had the time to sit down and write out stuff.  i've been pretty good lately. went through a little emotional roller coasters the past two quarters, but i think i am doing better.  right now i have the best roommate in the world, and i know lots of people say that, but she seriously is awesome.  she has so much positive energy, and when i feel down, she just somehow lifts my spirits up by just saying "i hope you have a fabulous day".  she is a new roommate as of winter quarter because the previous roommate transfered to another college.  i swear we laugh at the stupidest things, but laughing is good.  she is a 22 year old transfer student from orange county, and basically loves life.  i am just blessed to have her as a roommate.  it other news, it's spring time already, and it's so gloomy outside.  i feel like i havent seen the sun in days, and it's just overcast causing cold ocean breeze to come through.  i still live in the residence halls and have a great view of the pacific.  going to sleep to the sound of the waves crashing against the shores is just wonderful.  i have grown closer to the aacf felloship here at ucsb, and they are such an awesome family.  especially those aacf sisters, i swear we have the most random moments, but it's those that we remember, and they have just helped me grown in my walk.  sadly, i do admit i havent kept in touch with lots of you, but i hope all is going well with you all.  once college hit, we all seems to be busy, and the only ones we seem to keep in touch with are those who go to same college.  anyways, i plan to pick up my xanga from now on.  takecares xanga viewers.

p.s. shane&shane are awesome! i went to two of their concerts, and the lyrics are just so moving. if anyone wants to hear them let me know, and i'll be more than happy to hook you up with their music.

why can't some people respect you for who you are? more importantly, why can't some friends respect you for who you are, what you do, and what you believe in?

thank you to those who have been so supportive for me. i'm sorry if i seem so drained. i'm just trying to balance my spiritual, academics, and social life together. i have it, but just want to make it stronger.

- nonSTOP -

that's what it's been like this month. i had an awesome time in syracuse for NACURH. met lots of awesome people there and bonded with some fellow gauchos. once i came back from new york, it was dead week and finals started a few days later. then after finals, drove back to cpt with my dad and slept. woke up the next morning and went to sfo to fly out to hong kong. we had a lay-offer at japan that was suppose to be for two hours, but ended in 4 hours because they couldnt shut the cargo door. so had a great week in hong kong. met my dad and mom's cousins, ate great food (omg dim sum there is just WOW, enough said), of course did some hong kong shopping, and yet tried to stay in air conditioned places. i love hong kong, but of course there are some things that bugged me. 1.  i dont have a problem with people smoking, just as long as i'm not within 20feet of them. something about people smoking in restaurants at the table over just made me not want to eat (but of course this didnt stop me from enjoying the great food). 2. it was ever so humid. sweating bullets when it was raining. yeah, i wasnt too used to that. to keep this entry short, here is a short list of things i like about hong kong and not in any particular order... 1. the subway system, fast, simple, and the safety doors are genius. 2. the food, delcious, cheap. 3. the shopping, cheap. 4. the people, most of the people i came upon while in the streets were nice. 5. architecture of the buildings 6. sight-seeing 7. A/C whenever one goes inside 8. dragon boat racing in the harbor (i just so happened to go at the right time for that. it was pretty cool to watch) ... and the list could go on, but i cant think right now. so after this week full of hong kong with the family, i left hong kong sunday morning, and arrived sunday morning at sfo. crazy. so of course, sunday was father's day, so we took my grandpa out for some dim sum. then after that, i kinda just passed out on my bed for an hour, and then had to get up and my dad drove me back to sb. of course the next day, monday i started summer session at EIGHT O CLOCK in the morning. so i have bio mon, tue, thurs, and fri at 8am, and ochem mon, tue, wed, thurs, and fri at 11am. and of course bio lab tue and thurs from 2-5. fun times, fun times. but for reals, i'm excited about these classes and i hope not to be behind in the reading. so i'll be here in sb all summer. i'm bummed that i wont be able to see any cpt-ians, except for those who are at sb already. but i have to catch up on classes, since i changed my major, but this will be good for me.  it seems like a handful of cpt-ians are doing research/internships this summer, but if any of you plan to take a road trip down 101, dont be afraid to stop by. have a great summer!

               Founder Effect

in my intro to bio class today, and we were talking about the founder effect, and our professor gave this example/ class intereation. my professor is a funny one.

Founder Effect: start off in a big population, but a small group migrate away from the old population.

"Perfect example of this is Gilligan's Island. Who here has watched an episode of Gilligan's Island? Let's list the characters. Gilligan, Professor, Skipper, Mr. Howell, Mrs. Howell, Ginger, and Mary Ann (small group). So they are from Hawaii (big population), and travel for 3 hours, and come to the island. Now they are stuck on this island, so let's see who is 'do-able' "

my thoughts: "omg are we seriously talking about this?"

                                  Mr. Howell and Mrs. Howell

"So let's go throuhg the list, and tell me why each character is 'do-able' or not. Mrs. Howell?"
Students : "NO, she is too old!"
"yeah she probably cant produce at that age to help the growth of population. How about Mr. Howell?"
Students: "No, he's old too"
"Yeah, but he can still help with the growth of the population. How about Gilligan?"

                                 Skipper and Gilligan

Students : "No."
Some girl: "YEAH, I'd do him!"
"Seriously?"
Some girl: "i was just kidding!!!"
"yeah, he screwed up, and that's the reason why they are on the island in the
first place, but he can provide his sperms. How about Skipper?"
Students: "No"
"again, he can help the population growth, but i can understand he doesnt seem do-able to some. how about the Professor"

                                 Professor, Skipper, Mr. Howell, Gilligan

Ladies: "Yeah!"
"why?"
Ladies: "Because he is good looking and intelligent"
"well you guys dont have to come take the midterm next week, you all get A's"
<jaw dropped and i bursted out laughing. brian wong didnt get it, so i explained a little, and he started laughing. i dont think anyone got that joke, but i thought it was pretty funny. later after class i mentioned it to cindy and she was like "oh! yeah i was out of it lizzy" too funny>
"how about ginger?"
Guys: "Hell yes! she is HOT!"
"and marry anne?"
Guys: "Yes! HOT again"

                                    Ginger and Mary Ann

"so in the end, the only people you agree on as a class, that are 'do-able' are the Professor, Ginger, and Mary Ann. So they can together help grow the population"

i still cant believe the question of which character you would do, came up. but good laughs though, good laughs, fun times. the one class i havent fallen asleep in... yet.
